The PA Wine Society, along with our Enologist, Mario Mazza, and Brand Ambassador, Blaine Ballard, will be hosting a virtual tasting featuring 3 wines from Mazza Vineyards and the South Shore Wine Company. Mazza Wines
The Mazza Family has been making world class wines on the South Shore of Lake Erie since 1973. One of the largest producers in the Lake Erie AVA, Mazza Wines remains family owned and operated. Mario Mazza is the General Manager, and head of the winemaking team that Produces wines under the Mazza Vineyards, and South Shore Wine Company labels in Pennsylvania, and Mazza Chautauqua Cellars in New York State. In this tasting, we will be sampling 3 Vinifera wines from the Mazza portfolio.

South Shore Wine Company Sparkling Riesling
Our sparkling collection is housed at South Shore Wine Company, which is a beautiful wine cavern that dates back to the 1800’s. We make wines in the traditional Methode Champenoise, and the ancestral, or Pet Nat, method. Our Sparkling Riesling is bottle fermented using the Méthode Champenoise (traditional method). This wine is a dry, medium-bodied sparkling Riesling brimming with lush fruit, bright acidity, and a snappy finish, with delicious notes of green apple and concentrated stone fruit on the palate.

South Shore Wine Company Grüner Veltliner
Also from the South Shore Wine Company, we have the 2017 Grüner Veltliner. Gruner is an Austrian grape known for producing dry, zesty, aromatic wines. Our Grüner Veltliner shows brilliant white-gold with green reflections. It seduces on the nose with spicy notes of fresh stone fruit and fine minerality. On the palate our wine shows deep fruit with brilliant acidity. The variety is known for an explosive, fruit palate and a bright aroma and color. The wine is cool fermented in stainless steel to retain natural aromas.

Mazza Vineyards Cabernet Franc
Mazza Vineyards Cabernet Franc is a fantastic example of what can be done with this grape. The 2017 Cabernet Franc is intensely aromatic with aromas of cherry and plum. The palate is filled with spice, almond and smoke flavors. The wine is fermented on its skins and the blend is aged in a combination of French and Hungarian Oak. Enjoy the Cabernet Franc on its own or pair with foods of your liking.
